Does my computer runs Windows 7?

The first question for all of us is this. Does my computer runs Windows 7 or not? This question have a first quick answer: all the computers that have installed Windows Vista, without exception, have the necessary capacities to run Windows 7.

But, if you still have any doubts here are the minimum requirements:

- 32 bit or 64 processor at 1Ghz

- 1Gb memory (for 32 bit) or 2Gb (for 64 bit)

- 16Gb disk space (for 32 bit) or 20Gb (for 64 bit)

- graphics supporting directX 9

With these minimum requirements your computer will run Windows 7. But if you still have any doubts or need to have 100% sure you can download the Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor. This application will make an analysis to your computer and gives you the result. With these you´ll have no doubt.

Installing Windows 7

Is the installation of Windows 7 faster than on Windows Vista?

YES! Microsoft has reduced the number of frames that need intervention of the user and also the operating system have less aplications. Aplications like Messenger, Photo Gallery or Movie Maker are now offered for an optional download, that you can make at download.live.com.

Is the installation of Windows 7 simple?

YES! The installation of the operating systems of Microsoft take a little time but always have been simple. Windows 7 is even more simple than previous versions.

Upgrading from XP or Vista to Windows 7

If you want to make an upgrade from XP or Vista to the new Windows 7, you must know that you can only do that in similar versions of Windows and only from Vista to W7. This means that if you have Windows Vista Ultimate you can´t do an upgrade to Windows 7 Home Premium. You only can upgrade to Windows 7 Ultimate. If you want a different version of Windows you´ll have to install from zero.

You also can´t upgrade a 32 bit version for one of 64 bit. You´ll have to make the installation from zero too. If you use the Windows Easy Transfer you can copy some data and profiles so it will help you a little bit in this case.

Is it more simple to use W7 or Vista?

It´s more easy to use W7 and is also more "beautiful". The Aero interface have some new functionalities that helps our work everyday. It´s some little "tricks" that helps to turn our work more fluid.

Another example is that we need 2 clicks to create a new folder on Windows Vista and in W7 there´s a button "New Folder" directly in the Explorer Window.

You also can change the resolution in 2 clicks, something impossible to do in Vista.

But, better than talk about the differences is SEE that in action. So, if you want to see Windows 7 in action you can look to this videos:

Share your opinions

And that´s it. With these informations i hope you already can decide if you want to use Windows 7 or not.

I hope you share your opinions about this new Windows OS.
